Hello

Hello!
I’m Martina Griffin. Wife, mom of four, Catholic convert, former Presbyterian, and lifelong question asker.
I’ve taught in classrooms and around kitchen tables. I’ve homeschooled, hustled, burned out, and found my way back again. I’ve spent years wrestling with what I believe and how to live it gently, honestly, and with room for grace.
This space holds my reflections on faith, family, writing, and becoming. Because I don’t think we ever stop becoming.
Writing is how I sort through what’s true. Not what sounds impressive. Not what’s perfectly formed. Just what’s real and still unfolding.
I’m not here to convince you of anything. I’m here to sit with you. To name the questions. To notice what’s tender. To leave space for mystery and mercy to coexist.
If you find something here that feels familiar, something that helps you exhale and think, “Okay, I’m not the only one,” then this space is doing what it’s meant to do.
Whether you stay for five minutes or five posts, I’m really glad you came.

How Big Bowl of Popcorn Started
Big Bowl of Popcorn started quietly.
It began as a place to put words that didn’t fit anywhere else. Thoughts scribbled between school drop offs, late nights, and the in between moments of ordinary life. I’ve always loved stories, books, and movies, and popcorn felt like the right image. Something you enjoy without pressure. Something you can share. Something that lets you be a little young and curious again.
For a long time, writing was how I made sense of things. Faith. Family. Loss. Joy. The questions that don’t resolve neatly. Big Bowl of Popcorn became the place where those reflections could live without being rushed into answers.
The name stuck because that’s what I hope this space feels like. Pull up a chair. Take what you need. Pass it along if you’d like. No performance. No pretending. Just honest words and room to breathe.
It’s grown slowly, the way meaningful things usually do. Not from a plan, but from a need. And I’m grateful you found your way here.
