Classics Week: A Quiet Wrap-Up

Reading Time

1–2 minutes

This past week, I did something new: I spent time writing through some of the classic books that have left a mark on my life.

It started with The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, where I met Helen—strong, patient, and faithful, even in suffering. Then I revisited To Kill a Mockingbird, a childhood favorite that reads differently when you’re grown and can see all the brokenness beneath the surface. Wuthering Heights reminded me that love without virtue can burn everything to the ground. And Crime and Punishment—well, that one took me deep. Into memory, into mercy, into the truth that people are never just one thing.

Each of these books, in their own way, taught me something about endurance, justice, obsession, and grace.

They also reminded me why I love to write.

So thank you—for reading, for commenting, for walking through these stories with me. If one of the posts stirred something in you, I’d love to hear what. If there’s a classic you’ve read that wrecked you (in the best way), tell me about it. I’m always looking for what to read next.

And if you missed any of the posts this week, I’ve linked them all below. No pressure—just a little extra soul food if you’re in the mood.

Thanks for coming on this literary ride with me.

In grace,
Martina Griffin
